Unauthorised search?!

I’ve just had an email stating that my credit score has been impacted due to a search.....After investigation on my Karma (formally Noodle) can see one that was done yesterday?? I’ve not requested or applied for any kind of credit or loans at all? It states a soft search by ‘ Credit Karma Uk (Cval, Cr)’ .....
‘Consumer credit file request’
Has anyone experienced this before, or had anything similar to this? Any information would be welcomed gratefully as I’m currently building my credit & this has really upset me!!

Fear not.
Your credit score means diddly squat and a soft search has no impact on your credit worthiness.
Be upset no more.2 -
Hmmm.....My mortgage advisor appears to have the opposite advice 🤷🏼♀️😂
Well whatever it was it took 8 points off.......0 -
Christ. Switch advisors as quickly as you can if that's his level of knowledge.

the score is an indication of the contents of your credit file, so if your score went from 550 to 22 then you'd want to check your credit file because it would indicate that something fairly dramatic had occurred. But mine fluctuate by c10 points at various times and the reasons can be 'you opened an account' 'you closed an account' or even because 'no changes'. So the score is only an assessment by experian/equifax/callcredit of your credit history; if there is a large change in your score look at the reason for that, but otherwise it's really nothing to get upset about, as zx81 says.1

A soft search will not impact your score, even less so the one actually done by CreditKarma themselves when they pull the report you requested which was after you had the alert. It actually states on the header above the search list :
SOFT SEARCHES
Soft searches are typically used to check your identity or assess whether you qualify for product offers. They never affect your credit score or your chance of being approved for credit.
You need to look for hard searches or other changes to your file.

My score has dropped 3 times over the past 4 months (with Credit Karma) for a total of -14 points. For no reason at all. Literally, no reason. It's kinda fun to watch!2

Well whatever it was it took 8 points off.......And how did he have access to the score ?Ask a bank if they can see the credit scores, I can guarantee they will say they don't.Only you can see it.0 -
My credit "score" also varies monthly when my spending and credit (just 2 cards) stays almost exactly the same.
The annual round of car and home insurance quotes, which includes many soft searches, does not correlate with any movement of my made-up "score"1
