Green Homes Grant

Options
If I buy a house later in the year, and the previous owner has already claimed the £5000 grant, or part of it, will I still be able to claim it?

No, because, if approved, the property will already have benefited from the improvements. Why do you think it would qualify again just because of a change of ownership?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • Well, I’m not sure if it would, which is why I’m asking the question. Much of wording all refers to qualifying homeowners, not properties, and as a homeowner, I would be making a new claim. I was was wondering if I’d missed something in the wording that precludes it, as I can’t see anything. Can you?
  • Apologies if I am doing this wrong. Has anyone applied for the free boiler green deal scheme. I am finding installers are charging extortionate amounts on top of the grant money they are getting from government. I can understand a couple of hundred pounds on top, unless I am reading this all wrong. Is their somebody at ofgem we can talk to?

Because, if the grant has already been used to improve the property, then any new application will fail, as the property will no longer qualify, since it will already have the qualifying improvements.

The Green Deal scheme closed in 2015: what scheme are you referring to?
Ofgem does not regulate installers, or deal with consumer complaints.
