Refund of expenditure on Credit Card cheque?

Options
Hi, there - I posted this, mistakenly, on another Thread. Sorry! :(
Can anyone advise on this please - I made a substantial purchase using a credit card cheque abroad. I now believe this purchase to be dangerous, defective and misrepresented. I know the law has changed on credit card use abroad but not sure about credit card cheques. Help or advice, anyone? Thanks.

In my opinion credit cards cheques are the most despicable 'service' offered by credit card companies. Normally goods over £100 bought with your credit card are subject to equal liability- this means your credit card company are equally as liable as the seller of goods if they are in breach of contract or misrepresented, so if you can't get redress from the seller you can get it from the credit card company. If you do ever need to make a claim just say the magic words 'Section 75' when you phone your card company, and you should be put through to a specialist team.

However, credit card cheques are treated as cash (interest starts as soon as they are cashed, no interest free period, usually a higher interest rate), and so no protection from the Consumer Protection Act. I am afraid you are as on your own with this as if you had written a personal cheque, sorry.
