JET2 and the promise of Full Refunds

Options
So, back in Feb i willingly changed my bookings and paid Jet2 the overinflated charge of £130 for doing so. Now, shoes on other foot. Jet2 cancelled my holiday ( twice - the first in July when i decided to pay a little more and go for another destination ), this was then cancelled by Jet2. A week later the refund has entered my account. Except it is around £300 short!  So..my thinking is..this 'full refund' isn't quite that is it. They are taking/stealing in my book their 'admin fees' and perhaps ( yet to confirm ) taking the cost of the flight seats we are essentially forced to book nowadays. Flight seats for a flight which never took off. I've waiting to hear back from them of course. I would love to know the legalities around not giving back £300. Thoughts welcome - anyone suffered the same? I have noted on twitter a few other people mentioning similar re admin fees at least.

Comments

  • Just to add to my last comment - i received emails ( automated - so much for admin costs! ) re cancellation/ and an auto middle of night email sending attachments required for holiday..clearly all up the left. Furthermore, upon hearing of the refund ( which i am grateful for, over £3000 back in my account quickly ) the refund email stated 'refund of £0.00  - odd? not really telling the refund money..naturally seeing £300 short  which they deem the right too keep for some as yet unknown reason! Again, my guess is seats on flights but only that - a guess - surely if THEY cancel why should I pay for that regardless of current covid situations. End of day- if I were to cancel / or change booking ( like i did  ) then ( like the ott Bank charges ) i expect to pay the ott admin costs.

the voluntary change fee of £130 will be non-refundable
seat reservation fees for cancelled flight will likely be refunded in a separate transaction
  • (impressive repsonce thanks! )
Caz i think you misread of didnt fully read what I wrote. Perhaps i confused the issue with additional information. Re seat reservation - well I hope you are correct in that regarding a separate transaction - we wait and see - . However I was not complaining about the 'change' that I opted for back in Feb and cost me £130. I mention that only in light of the fact JET2 have now cancelled on me and yet they have  chosen not to refund all my money. I am £400 short of my full refund. Whether this is partly due to booking 3 seats on the flight ( which never took off ) and ( i assume ) charging me admin fees for THEIR cancellation. Again, i have emailed several times and made it very clear at my disgust and want answers.   I was hoping others out there with similar issues..as mentioned i do recall a couple of twitter replies a few months back similar issues - hence me jumping to the conclusion it is further admin fees.  Shed any light on this please let me know. In fact i would enjoy comment from a legal perspective. In light of recent hiked bank charges...i would LOVE to know how admin fees amounting to £130 for 3 people can be justified in the first place.

How did you pay? Any of it on a credit card?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
