Whilst I'm waiting to hear whether my chargeback from Mastercard will be confirmed, Exoticca has been quick to email me (twice) to say that, as I have instigated a chargeback, they will no longer be processing a refund - not that they were processing a refund anyway!! My MP has offered to write to his 'ministerial colleagues' about this woeful tale. ABTA has not got back to me following their assurance that they will contact Exoticca to obtain a specific date for a refund. ABTA and the CMA are both completely useless. Once this is all over, I will indeed ask my MP to write to the appropriate Ministers about the shameful avoidance of duty by both these quangos.

I am pleased to report I did get a refund on my holiday which was cancelled by Exoticca via charge back on my Nationwide credit card.

My holiday was cancelled by Exoticca in June. Ever since I have been repeatedly told I can get a cash refund (3k) - the latest being March 2021, but I would be paid as soon as they could. This then changed to if I hadn't spent my credit note by March, it would be refunded then - this then changed yesterday in the small print of a further marketing email they sent me to Sept 2021!! When I complained again, I was simply told "there will be a very long wait for all cash refunds." without acknowledging that they had suddenly changed the date from March to Sept (this would be a wait of 15 months!) very untrustworthy - and as much as they need my money due to Covid, I need my money back due to Covid!
