Hi!
I just got back from a cruise with Royal Carribean.
I didn't have the same problem as you but when we were at the airport my partner realised the card he had pre-registered for his Seapass account only had £15 credit left on it! we had deliberately emptied our wallets of other cards in case we lost them but luckily I had brought one card for emergencies.
When we got to the pier we asked at check-in and they said when we spoke to the agent to just explain you wanted to use a different card, which we did and I had to write the number down on an authorisation sheet for the seapass, then she swiped it through a machine. I didn't have to enter my pin or sign anything else.
I think cos you don't pay the account off til the last day of your cruise they don't need a pin at the initial entry onto the ship.
Not sure who you are going with though so it may be different. If they won't let you, the other alternative is to offer to settle up with cash, generally they require 200 USD security deposit to make sure you are going to settle up. Then when it comes to the end of the cruise and you are due to pay in cash, just pay the balance with your card and your pin that your dad has provided you with.
I didn't have to use my pin at any stage by the way but not sure if settling up at the desk on board is different, mine just got billed automatically and there was no need to visit the desk unless the amount they had charged was wrong (got a printout the last day, delivered to stateroom)

I've always thought that full payment is taken (or at least a large deposit) before you get anywhere near the ship.
Cruise packages are pretty pricey but I guess they haven't got much to lose by not taking payment first.
Those people whose ship recently capsized from an iceberg probably got a free holiday since the last day never came around.I know nothing0 -
Oh yes, the cruise itself was paid for months ago.
What I mean is, on the ship it was a cashless system, you register a credit card (or agree to settle in cash) and are given a plastic card, mine was called a Seapass to use on board, then settle up at the end of the week.
Was handy but also made it easier to buy more drinks than you intended to, lol.
They wouldn't accept cash at all though as we tried to buy a photograph on the last night and they wouldn't take it, had to be added to account.
I am not sure if that was what the OP was referring to but that is how I read it with me just having got back myself.

I forgot my pin number and ended up locking my card while i was away in Italy , and i had to pay for the hotel , no problem they said they just bye passed the pin !! and on saturday i went to pay for a dress , forgetting the pin was locked ( i tend to only use it for online stuff ) and debenhams said no problem you can sign for it , very handy but a bit worrying on the security front
Must send off for a new number
btw we are going on a cruise in 3 weeks time , I'm almost with Royal carribean we can preload our sea pass online before we go ?0 -
