Expedia non refundable flight

I purchased a flight to visit family due to an emergency. The flight itself was non refundable, the only flight type available. They didn't offer any kind of insurance which i would of taken. The destination country announced yesterday that no foreigners at all can enter the country, unless on aboard a humanitarian flight. Will Expedia offer me a refund? Can i fight a case?

Entry requirements of countries are not the problem of airlines and they make it very clear in their terms. Only way you are likely to get a refund is if the flight is cancelled, however you can always beg for a goodwill gesture.
Which airline is it and why did you not book direct?0 -
I wouldn't go in looking for a fight with Expedia. Why not just make a conciliatory approach and see what your options might be.bighead8181 said:I purchased a flight to visit family due to an emergency. I expect there were options to buy other ticket types from other suppliers, including the airline directly, but probably not at the price you wanted to pay. You could also have looked to purchase travel insurance from other sources. Not sure your defensive position mentioned above is very strong as an argument.
Had you booked direct with the airline you may have had other options open and a chance for a direct conversation on cancelling or deferring travel. You however went for the (cheaper) option of buying via a third party. I suspect reaching Expedia to discuss and get a answer will be time consuming and possibly frustrating.
