Tesco charity roundup

Tescos are doing the charity roundup again which I was OK with but this time its not 10p its up to £1 ! So if you spend £1.01 you could be asked to add 99 p to charity . In the current climate with people struggling I think this is bad timing Tescos !

For gods sake. Nobody is forcing you to do it, it isn't done by default and the cases in this thread where it has been done in error is clearly that: an error.2

Still doesnt explain why this is posted in the Small Business section as I doubt many small businesses are buying their supplies from Tesco nor would Tesco qualify as being a small business.
If you are concerned about rounding up to the pound you'll really hate the "invisible chips" that a number of restaurants are having on their menu which is a circa £3 donation to a charity supporting those individuals in the hospitality industry that are struggling because of Covid.
The cashier or pin pad should give the option to participate or not but rounding to a pound certainly would be my default expectation if someone mentioned rounding it for charity.1 -
I think tesco are already getting a fair bit of flak for this.At around 11 am my husband went in there. The bill shows a 93p roundup and a reversal of that. Cashier apparently didn't say a word.If they take money from you without asking, its the equivalent of picking your pocket. So what if it's only pennies? No one should have to justify refusing.0

There might be more replies if this thread was posted on the "Charities" or "Praise Vent & Warnings" forum.I think we will probably see quite a lot of out of place threads now that the "Money Saving Arms" is in Lockdown.1
