Any experience of flatbed microwaves?

We're thinking of buying a combination microwave with a flatbed microwave function (i.e. no turntable) - the AEG KME761000M. Does anyone have any experience of these types of microwave? Do they cook food evenly?
A couple of the reviews at Reevo suggest that you need to turn the food during cooking to avoid problems, but I don't see any mention of this in the user manual.

We have an Ikea built in microwave + fan oven, they're made by Electrolux, who also own AEG.  We never got on with it as a microwave, and bought a normal spinny microwave to go on the worktop.  I do wonder if we should have been placing our food on the base of the microwave and not on a shelf above.

Yes the manual for the AEG KME761000M does say that food needs to be put on the bottom of the oven when used for microwaving. I think you are also suppose to remove the metal shelf.

The ikea manual that came with the appliance wasn't the best...

I have a Sharp flatbed one.  It's just a microwave though, not combination.  I love it, no problems with uneven cooking/heating.
  • My first microwave had no turntable. It didn't cook evenly, but then, neither do the ones with a turntable.
