O/S Daily Thursday 3 September 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Dreary, overcast and raining, very wet underfoot with lots of laying water - we've had some very heavy rainfall during the night - the noise woke me several times - it should ease off in a while - so the forecast says!
DH and DS1 gone to work, I'm showered dressed and enjoying my cuppa and my porridge. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was chicken, roast potatoes, veg, yorkshires and gravy. Not sure about tonight - I'll sort that this morning.
Work yesterday was busier again - I'm on days' off but working Saturday.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning folks. Thanks for starting us off NMLC.Well, yesterday the rain just poured down all day, unremittingly. It was like curtain rods. The puddle which normally forms across the road from DM's place actually stretched from pavement to pavement, a huge lake. This morning it's gone.Nothing much happened apart from a delivery of gin and tonic from lovely friends which cheered me up. Very dinky gin bottles with plenty of tonic too. 😀 I spent some time updating banking spreadsheets and creating a new one, I do love a fiddle around with Excel.I've cancelled the cleaner for today. Whilst the new restrictions are guidance only I felt that she mixes with so many others at work that it would be best to avoid her for one week. It's probably an over-reaction.My only plans are to whizz our first thing to collect a book order, drop things at the tip, call in at the PO and finally hand over stuff at the CS. The Open Reach engineer is due between 12pm and 2pm to install new equipment. That's it for now. I hope that everyone is doing OK. Happy Thursday to all.14

Morning everyone
I'm early this morning as I'm back at work today. Looking forward to getting back into a routine....though waking at quarter to 6 was a bit unnecessary! Hopefully all the children will turn up and things will go smoothly....and we'll stay open now without any disruptions.
Dry this morning though it poured from teatime yesterday.
Hope everyone has a good day14 -
Good morning and thank you for starting today's thread nmlc.
Yesterday my OH and DS were out all day and as I had to stay in the house for 3 deliveries of things DS had ordered I did some much needed housework. It was fine in the morning but started raining after lunchtime and then bucketed down. Some rain this morning, I think the grassn (ok, moss) has recovered now.
Nothing much happening today but I'm going to have a bath instead of a shower, for a treat. With bubbles and a book. If it stops raining later I can get outside, otherwise I always have indoor things to mess about with.
Hope everyone has a good day.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back13 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. A bit drab here after mucho rain overnight but forecast to stay fine but sunless.
I had a lovely day out yesterday with bezzie. Very few people on the bus so we almost had the top deck to ourselves. Not many kept their masks on for market browsing but we felt safer keeping them on. We avoided the charity shops as mostly quite small, though they were limiting numbers in at any time. I stocked up on soup and casserole freezer bags from Yorkshire Trading, also green fruit and veg bags for the fridge, We had a beautiful lunch with wine and a yummy Tiramisu to follow. It was hard to believe that it was 6 months since we last did this.
I am looking after the two younger DGDs today (allowed as we form a bubble) also the first time for months. They are back at school on Monday and I'm not sure how I will feel about minding them when they are mixing with other children again. It will be pizza for lunch and guess what is for tea!! They have haircuts booked when DD finishes work so they are taking the Bolog Bake with them to eat at home.
Sorry your escape from the local lockdown was short lived ROSYRED. We hear news tomorrow whether we stay in. Chappie on Northern news reckons we will be out and Leeds will be in with their cases escalating. We will just have to await what is decided for us.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need. Take care x

Morning all
Overcast here and been raining most of the night with more rain due later, will have to get the pups out between showers later. On Tuesday I spent some time in the garden cutting things back and generally tidying up we had a paddling pool out for the dogs so we emptied it and OH hung it on a nail behind the shed, this morning it is in the middle of the grass so it must have been very windy in the night.
Dinner today is roast pork as I did double yesterday so no effort there at all I just need to heat it through, I will make up a tomato pasta sauce as well as we seen to have loads of tomatoes we are not eating as many as the weather is getting cooler so will stop buying for a while.
Right need to get on have good days all xx13 -
Morning
Not bad weather here after the rain yesterday. Nice blue sky and a lot warmer. Not quite spa weather but certainly
better
I have re categorised decluttering the garage as a dangerous sport for me after going for a burton yesterday with some lovely cuts and bruises to add to my other misdemeanours. Nothing serious so back on it today. I've never considered myself a hoarder but the garage does tell another taleAnyway more of the dreaded empty containers in the bin and plenty more to go at.
Enjoyed the cod again last night and tonight is burger night so nice and easy
Have a good day all

Morning all, it's been raining all night but it's stopped for a breather now and just mizzling. No DGC today as DGS is back in school and DGD is at the childminders, sadly we will not be able to have them here again for a while at least because of Mr Fix It's health issues and we know how this virus v children/schools react
SiL wasn't happy in his school as there are a few new teachers who are not keeping the social distancing rules between themselves, so he's avoiding all social areas. DD doesn't have any children in yet but they seem to be more on the ball and the year groups have their own completely closed off areas.
Today I have nothing much planned except to sort out my fridge as it still has some party type stuff in it, so I'll freeze some as it probably won't be used it up quickly enough. At some point I need to sort out both freezers too as they are messy again and I've forgotten what's in there and make a note of the anything missing to put on a future shopping list. I'll also potter about tidying up and putting away, but other than that nothing much else.Take care all, stay safe and keep well. Hugs to anyone in need today.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently13 -
Morning all! Missed yesterday because the sleep stick seems to have lost it's oomph. I didn't do anything of note except OH and I caught up on a lot of programme viewing we have missed. I'm going for a hand off of a roman blind later on [ she passes on her way home from work and she advertised it on a mutual aid forum so that will be put up in the landing window to stop draughts. The wood for the pergola arrives today as well, he's dropping off on his way home too because he lives a few streets along. Holes need to be dug, postcrete needs to be purchased and we'll be away...with the fairies probably....And the wood was probably more than half the price I'd have paid in a bit store. I priced up the posts and they came out at about 120, so good job I found this place. My father would have loved to have gone there, and when I told my sister that yesterday [we had a video chat] she said why didn't I take them there? Errr....because I only found out about it last week? They did have slabs and all sorts of stuff there including some of those really big beams you see on Barnwood Builders [ my sister loves that program and makes me watch it when I go home]Anyway, not much planned for today, the magic cupboard has to do it's job soon, so I might chop up the veg for picallili and leave it to brine overnight and do that tomorrow...the jars can be sterilised in there...And I also booked in my car for a MOT tomorrow, hope it's not raiing because I have to drop it off and walk back, and it's about a twenty five mintue walk for me [ for the OH, ten, so he's not coming with me] but I did spy a few apple trees near there so I may go and investigate....Sorry about your cuts and brusies Nelski, tidying is dangerous....:) Glad you enjoyed your meal out TA...Hope everyone else is on an even keel and I wish you a tranquil Thursday....Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi13

Nels sorry I missed your post about your fall while faffing about with my post. Hope you're OK, it may not be serious but it certainly shakes you up. I shall send you an extra hug xnan xFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently13
