Has anyone else on here tried this new bread? I bought this yesterday,  and opened it today to have 'beans on toast '.   I have to say it's not what I expected.  The wrapper is printed in 2 halves. One end says 'white flour , while the other end says made from wholemeal flour.  I expected white sliced at one end,  and brown at the other.......ideal for us I thought as it saves buying 2 different loaves.  However,  what's  inside the wrapper is a pale brown loaf from end to end.  I was disappointed.   Did others expect what I did?

  • Regularly Buy Hovis best of both for my parents and its the same type of product as you describe.
I would like to see a baker(factory) try and mass produce the type of loaf you expected.
A local baker would do it without batting an eyelid.

Yes, I've bought best of both, and 'mighty white' , and this Warbies loaf is similar. It's the wrapper I find deceiving. As I  say, its  printed with different colours with a split down the middle.  Maybe I was naive to expect both white and brown in the same wrapper........just don't want others to buy and be disappointed.

Why don't you share your disappointment with the Wharburton's marketing dept? I'm sure they thought their artwork was a work of genius but they need to be told different.

They may even reward you with some vouchers.

50/50 bread means it is made with 50% of one flour and 50% of another, ie combined loaf.

Sorry, I thought I had edited the title yesterday but maybe not 'saved'.  It is actually called Half Half and if you saw the wrapper  design you might agree that it implies one half white and one half brown.

It wouldn't be the first time misleading advertising has sucked someone in.
I actually spoke to my mother about this today and she remembers a local baker making half brown and half white loaves.
  • Kingsmill do the same bread (50/50 - it’s called) and have done for ages. This isn’t a new concept. I remember the ads about it on TV. Think it was aimed at those who like the taste of white bread but with added fibre.

I have looked at the packet on line https://www.talkingretail.com/products-news/grocery/warburtons-adds-half-and-half-range-to-portfolio-20-08-2020/.  It says flour and not bread or slices or loaf on each half of the packet.  So to me its means it a 50/50 loaf by another name.

I wouldn't have thought otherwise based on Kingsmill etc precedents, but they have part transparent packaging and you can see the uniformity of the product. I think this packaging can be construed to be misleading.

I can't believe the branding won't be changed once there is a critical mass of complaints.

Why is it misleading ? It clearly says half white flour, half wholewheat flour. It doesn’t say anywhere half white loaf, half brown loaf.
