Told to relocate offices no redundancy option

Hi Basicly im part-time. My hours are 5.5 hours 3 days due to child care. I start when i get to work (normally) and finish when i get to school but currently im still working from home. We have been told our building is closing by the end of the year, my current office is 1 stop on the motorway from school 12 mile round trip. The new office is a 60 mile round trip. I'll have to make the hour each side i'll lose on my work from home day meaning my 1 day will be 9.5 hours maybe more unless I work another day. With school the way it is at the moment in bubbles and having to be there in a 10 minute time slot it worries me having to go down 2 motorways. I will be paid for extra fuel at a standard rate but thats it. plus i will have to pay for a public car park i currently dont have to.
I've basicly been told like it or lump it.
Does anyone know where I stand with this. I've been told its in my contract if im told to relocate they can.
Thanks

This is not a redundancy issue as they are not making your post redundant.
You are in the position that for child care issues amd the increased travel time you do not wish to move with the company which is understandable.
Can you negociate to continur to work from home as tou have been doing to date?0 -
No, I don't think they will bend the rules for anyone being honest they can't really be seen to be giving someone special dispensations. I've been there 18 years and 4500 are being made redundant already through one part of the business being treated differently to ours but there are about 400 left including myself working for another part of the business that is being merged as it were with the new employer. I can only be grateful it gives me 2 months to find another job but that is not going well as you can imagine. Im gutted in all honesty im not one of the 4500.Converted comper to MSE. An additional 24 miles travel down a motorway is not likely to be seen as excessive by a tribunal. Add in the fact they are paying for fuel (is that temporary or permanent?) and this looks pretty reasonable. I think its a case of lumping it until another job comes along. Which might not be anytime soon. Sorry.

If I am reading this right, the current office is 6 miles from the SCHOOL. The new office is 30 miles from the school.
How far is each office from your home as that is the relevant distance for employment consideration, not the school?0 -

Suitable alternative employment if it closer to home than than the old office
How far is it from home to school and home to office?.

Ok being precise. We have been told is a compulsory move and no redundancy will be offered to those left who can't move to the new office. The old office will no longer be in use as of mid december.
home to school is 1.1 miles
home to new office is 28.2 miles.

That is still well withing the distances considered a suitable alternative.0
