Hp in different name to registered keeper
My daughter split up from her boyfriend six months ago. They’d previously shortly before this bought a car together. The finance is in my daughters name as he had bad credit but he is down as the registered keeper. He is paying her the monthly payment at the moment but my daughter is concerned if this stops as the liability sits with her. I am looking for advice please on what the best way forward would be to get her out of this situation. Thanks in advance

The keepership is a separate issue.
She owes money to the finance company, because they wouldn't lend it to him.
If he still can't refinance it, then either she has to continue to trust him, or they have to terminate the finance and either sell or return the car depending on the finance.1 -
Get her to call the finance and get a settlement figure, tell him to find a loan/money transfer credit card and finish paying for it. Failing that your daughter can sell her current car and use the money to clear some off her finance and she can have her other car back.0

Adrian is right (often). The contract is between her and the finance company. She might trust her ex for now but if things change, she runs the risk of ending up still liable for payments on a car that she does not have access to or control of. If the ex doesn't insure properly, she could in extremis end up liable for payments on a car that is a burnt-out wreck.
Alternatively - if she can make the payments herself and wants the car - she needs to get it (and all the keys) from her ex and change the RK.I need to think of something new here...1 -
The one she will have to pay for if the Ex doesn't settle the finance.NBLondon said:

That's all one car, foxy... Nothing says the daughter had any other "current" or "previous" car apart from the one bought as a couple.foxy-stoat said:
