Would be grateful for any help!
An annual season ticket was purchased on 01/08/2019. Didn’t realise we could cancel these if not used. It’s not been used since March and has now expired. Backdating the claim from today for 56 days would take us to 8 July. Does this mean the holder will get a refund for the portion of the ticket from 8 July to 31 July? Or will they be entitled to a refund back to March?
Kicking myself for not realising sooner. Thanks

It says the claim can be backdated for 56 days but there may be no monetary value in the ticket after 10 months and 12 days. So I guess that means no value will be able to be claimed. But the National Rail calculator says £2.2k is the claim value. So I’m completely confused.Mortgage May 22: £231,250

It would seem that refunds on season tickets isn’t as straight forward as refunding the period unused so only one way to find out? Ask! Think you will be lucky to get much back if you used it for 7 months and it’s now past renewal date though.0

Thanks Tedber. It was a £6.5k season ticket so it would be amazing if could claim anything back at all. The advice doesn’t seem straightforward about claiming though, I know you can backdate claims by 8 weeks for expired tickets but I’m not sure if you can claim for unused journeys more than 8 weeks old. You’re right, will claim and see what happens. Thanks again:Mortgage May 22: £231,250

Season Tickets can be refunded at any time and train companies calculate how much is refunded by how much value is left on your ticket. They do this by deducting the value of any other tickets you could have travelled with in the same time until you stopped using your Season Ticket. This refund can be backdated up to a maximum of 56 days from when it is submitted to the last date it was used, if you were unable to travel due to the government’s guidance about only travelling if necessary, during the pandemic. This has been extended to other types of Season Ticket such as PlusBus, or car park Season Tickets.
reads like 56 days back from when you submit so 8th -31 July when it ran out.0
