Pay as you go Meter
Options
We are having a few problems with our pay as you go meter .
The meter displayed a message 'help . Please contact your supplier . So we contacted British Gas who then informed us we weren't there customer & we were in fact with another company (Tonik) & they would sort it . Not only this but BG claimed our meter was registered at another address .
So we got in touch with Tonik & they told us that were weren't on there database & not on any national database .
So we have a broken meter that no comp[any is claiming responsibility for & only have another £10 on the meter which we can't top up.
Also we never asked to leave British Gas , but they claim they can't do anything about it
Has anyone got any advice please?
Thanks from a newbie

Sounds like you have suffered an 'erroneous transfer', probably caused by an error on the meter database. You should inform both BG and Tonik that you believe an erroneous transfer has taken place and they should act to fix the problem. The database error is going to confuse things though and unfortunately neither BG nor Tonik have a great reputation for customer service so you may have to be persistent.Look for the MPAN number on the meter as that will be the key to getting this fixed rather than just your address if there is a database error.1
