I’m due to travel to Hurghada at Christmas the balance of the holiday is due in 2 weeks but I’m not sure if we will be allowed to go

  • If you dont pay it, you likely lose the deposit. Xmas is nearly 4 months away.

Insurance isnt really relevant here. If there are government restrictions/advice in place for your destination at the time you fly, it will be cancelled and you get a full refund. But only if you have kept up the payments.

Choosing just not to go and Insurance wont cover you, and it would be the normal TUI cancellation terms: cancelling today would mean loss of deposit, as an example. Not paying the balance also means loss of deposit.

Cancel now (or fail to pay balance) and lose £200 per person. If you pay the balance and you later decide you don’t want to go, you’ll lose more as per TUI T&Cs. If TUI cancel the trip then they will have to refund you all monies payed.

Worth saying that as a proper tour operator, TUI have been one of the better companies. When FCO advice has changed, they have cancelled holidays. When quarantine restrictions have been introduced, they have cancelled holidays.

  • You'll likely be allowed to go, but may be subject to the quarantine period on return.
