MSE Poll: Will you be travelling abroad over the next year?

International travel has been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic. And while some travel restrictions have now been lifted, others are still in place. As the current situation continues to shift, some are starting to look further ahead. This week, we want to know if you're planning to head abroad over the next year.

I voted "yes" I will travel abroad next year, even if I have to quarantine but, in our case, it wouldn't be going to a resort/tourist trap. It'd be visiting family or staying with friends in rural France. (Both are clamouring to see us.) The riskiest parts of the journey would be the 25 minutes spent in the Channel Tunnel.

ETA: since we're both working from home now, Quarantine when we got back wouldn't be an issue."Be the type of woman that when you get out of bed in the morning, the devil says 'Oh crap. She's up.'
It ain’t what you do, it’s the way that you do it - that’s what gets results!

Nope - sorry - I can't see any good reason at all to travel overseas for the next 12 months at least.0

Yup but only because the grandparents live in Australia. We meet up somewhere in the world every year. Obv missed this year because of lockdown and unless it all goes bonkers again We will probably go to Australia as i'd rather they not travel with their age.0

Yep I will.
If let to run it's course the virus will be done and dusted by early in the new year.0 -
Vaccine seems some way off yet. Making plans seems somewhat pointless when the ability to travel to a particular destination can be changed at a matter of a few hours notice. Not as if there's open borders anyway. Only Europe seems desperate to keep tourism going to sustain the economy. Yet increasingly appears to be paying the price.0

No, not because it's unsafe, but just because there's too much potential for hassle with cancellations, lockdowns, quarantines."If you can dream it, you can do it". Walt Disney0

We're going to Turkey in a few weeks hopefully, booked it on Boxing Day so not intending to lose my money and looking forward to it. I've had the virus and was like flu for me, so not going to let having to get on a plane put me off and probably no more risky being there on an apartment to being here.0

I think in next year also tourism industry will suffer0 -
Would like too, most definitely. Big aim 2021 to get on a plane. Have had to kiss goodbye to the family walking holiday up north we were due to go on in just over a week's time due to different areas lockdown uncertainty, know someone lucky enough to get on a plane within last month who managed to fly to somewhere that wasn't on the list yet here we are not able to holiday within the UK.0

I voted yes, but this decision is based on being refused a refund by Virgin Holidays (cancelled in May) - so it's a case of have a holiday or forget about the money. I paid with vouchers purchased through my company's employee discount scheme. Virgin holidays won't refund the money so they are holding it for me to use on a future holiday. We planned for this to be our last holiday for a few years (due to personal reasons). We wouldn't choose to go on holiday in 2021 but not prepared to say goodbye to £4000+ without one either.Mortgage started 2015: £150,000 2016: £130,000 2017: £116,000 2018: £105,000 2019: £88,000 2020: £69,000 2021: £51,195 2023: MORTGAGE FREE!0
