Flat in desired area or a house elsewhere

  • I'm in a similar situation.

Have lived in a flat in a very sought area, but service charges, dwindling lease and the cost of extending, plus other factors, has made me start a search for a property.

It won't be the same area, but hopefully in a decent area I can stretch to something.

I wouldn't move from good to bad area, maybe something in between 'up and coming'
  • I was in the same position as you, I wanted the lifestyle of having things on my doorstep but couldn't even afford to buy a small flat in the area I wanted.

Instead I set about saving for a house / bungalow. A flat caught my eye, it's got a private garden and the views are to die for, plus it's got everything I wanted on my doorstep.

Every morning I get up, look out the window, see the water and hills and know I made the right decision.
Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.
