Every Harpic product I've ever used has been rubbish. But I do use one of those toilet duck type brushes with the flushable paper heads and find them to be very effective.  Any other type of toilet brush just makes me want to vomit. I mean, how clean are they? It's okay, I know the answer, they aren't.

No, no need for any type of toilet brush, ever. Disgusting. Ask your water company how "flushable" they think they are (use toilet paper if you want to wipe around).

The wipes are not good either. But yeah we all use em.

  • I get what ever sainsburys got on offer at that time and squirt it round the loo. if it smells ok n does the job, then that's good enough.

Being ancient I've used both and others in my time. I go for bleach, just enough and not every day, and scrub.
The old Harpic granuals If you can get them, are great for cleaning brass. Make a soloution and soak brass object for 5mins, it goes a little pink, rinse and polish. Takes all the hard work out of cleaning brass.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Toilet brushes arnt dirty if you long flush, brush then use the last few seconds  to wash the brush down.
  • I'm always concerned about the risk of household and gardening chemicals getting into the water table. I try to avoid anything that I wouldn't want in my body. The thing is, people want convenience. I'm sure there are several traditional remedies that might do the job.

I almost never use a product to clean the toilet. Elbow grease when needed and very rarely (once a year or less?) strong acid to remove the scale. I suspect someone will reply saying I shouldn't (and they may well be correct) but I'm sure using a stronger product very rarely is better than using something weaker very often.
