Restoring WiFi?

I thought I did a smart thing when I bought a WiFi range extender with an ethernet cable, believing the cable connection would offer me security when using telephony via the laptop. The first thing I wanted to do was check the "real" WiFi speed I was receiving and thought it was as simple as plugging the extender with cable in, and off I go.
Wrong - so followed their instructions and they didn't work, it was late yesterday evening so I abandoned it in favour of a good night's sleep. In the process I seem to have knocked out my WiFi connection, how on earth do I restore it? Am using my phone's data atm but this is not viable for much longer. Help please?

Why do you think you have killed your WiFi?Is your laptop not linking? If so ensure your ethernet cable is not connected to laptop or your router. Ensure you are within a few metres of the router and see if you get a connection. It would perhaps be best if you explained the make of router, laptop model, operating system in use so that someone can offer more specific advice. You wil not usually 'knock out' your WiFi with what you have done but may just have lost connection. Do you have any indicator lights on your router, if so which are 'on'. Does your laptop show a WiFi icon and what is it's status compared to when it was working (you may need to hover your cursor over it to get the message)......1

Router light went from green to yellow. I don't think the problem is my devices - none of them can connect to this wifi - but my settings somehow. Classic first step of switching on an off didn't help.
I think it's down to the range extender because the setup options involved sticking in an IP address and accessing all networks. I had to select mine and then make changes to the channels.
Unfortunately I can't take the same route to fix it as there is no wifi!!No man is worth crawling on this earth.

Hi,remove the cable and put things back as they were, then reset router, there is usually a small hole on back or base, you will need a paper clip or pin.2

As long as you haven't made lots of (or any) changes to the default setup then a router reset is the way to go.2

For some reason I can't see the image in your post, but I guess it's largely the same as this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/LONUO-Extender-Wireless-Compatible-Routers-White/dp/B08FM6SFBS
I presume you were trying to set it up in Repeater mode? (i.e. so it has the same WiFi SSID as your router). Might be better to simply use it in AP mode ... connect the LAN port via cable to your router and then let the device have its own SSID / WiFi network.1
