I’m sure he was made redundant and had no redundancy payment because he drew all the money out of his three private pensions for us to live on.

Assuming that your husband was working for this company for a number of years, it would be very odd indeed for there to have been no redundancy payment.

I'm wondering if rather than actually being made redundant, the husband was actually just let go on health grounds.
Redundancy applies when a role is no longer available - in this case it sounds like the job was still there but the person was no longer able to carry it out on health grounds and so was dismissed or resigned ?

The whole situation seems very confused.

  • There are no deductions for pension on his payslip, but I don’t know if he belonged to a scheme and I don’t know that he was made redundant. I doubt he resigned because he never accepted that he was going to die. So many questions to answer. I think the fact that the Abbey Life document says what it did, he must have belonged to some scheme, but it’s finding out what. I can’t find anything in his paperwork, but tbh didn’t really know what I was looking for. The suggestions have given me a bit more to go on.

    You might try this.
Do you have a complete employment history for your late husband?
  • I was looking at that earlier, so thought of trying that.
