O/S Daily Tuesday 1 September 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, dry but oool start to the day.
DH up and gone to work, as has DS1. I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge. DS2 settled and happy.
Lunch yesterday was a cheat meal of indian ready meal - very nice it qas too. Tonight will be either chicken or burgers and hot dogs.
Back to work - there's been major electrical works over the holiday - so we'll see if we have any power and tech this morning!
I need to contact a plumber as we've had a fault message come on the DW - check water supply - when we did there's a problem with the water inlet and I've had a flooded kitchen over the weekend - I managed to find the off switch on the inlet water pipe the plumber had put on when the DW was installed years back
We were quite chilled over the weekend.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Thanks for the start nmlc, hope the work is finished and you can have a smooth day.
No bank holiday weekend here, it was business as usual yesterday. I started to put oil on the deck on Sunday and continued yesterday when I got home, the rain has held off but not sure I will get it finished tonight.
Nothing of note has been going on but at least that means no disasters!
Have a good day, take care. XX

Morning all, I've been awake since silly o'clock and the little sleep that I had was full of weird dreams. Oh well, an early night awaits then.I'm having a peaceful cup of tea before the DGC fall through the door. It's only a short day of care as DD will arrive here about 1pm to celebrate DGS's 11th birthday with us in a party lunch. He's already had a sleepover with a couple of friends last Friday and he will be having more cake at home with his Dad, my Dad and other GGM. That's more birthdays than the queen ( and 3 birthday cakes
)
I have to put the bins out and empty the DW today and nothing much more will be done OS wise, but I have sausage rolls, pizza and chicken nibbles to cook for lunch, most of the other stuff is already in the fridge. I won't have to cook any tea as hopefully there may be a few leftovers to finish up from lunch, fingers crossed.NMLC sorry about your plumbing woes, hope it gets sorted asap.Hope everyone has a good day and I will pop back later for a catch up.Take care, stay safe and keep your chins up.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently14 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. It's a glorious start here with wall to wall blue sky and sunshine. But the autumnal early morning nip is in the air to remind us that summer will soon be leaving us. I dread the thoughts of winter and the long dark evenings.
I am psyching myself up to go in town as I desperately need a new phone. I say "new" but it will only be new to me! I shall go back to the shop where I got my current one. It has served me well but now needs replacing. .
As usual, nothing of great excitement in store, just the same old same old but at least I am still here to tell the tale! Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need of one. Take care and stay safe x

Good morning folks. There's a wee nip in the air today, autumn is creeping in slowly. I had a unusually disturbed night so feel shattered already.Yesterday I did some catching up on TV films. Started with SPECTRE (for the umpteenth time), moved onto Taken and then F&F7 which were both new to me. Mostly rubbish I know even though I enjoyed them.As for today, not much idea! I shall, at some point, watch the recording of the funeral in Melbourne which took place at 5.00am this morning.Must move...happy Tuesday to all.13

Morning all
Sunny but chilly here dog has been walked and I am off to take DS to collect his new motorbike in a bit then home and a trip to the tip . I spent yesterday sorting through the filing cabinet so 10 mins a day catch up on my filing I just put it in a box to do later usually. Freezer inventory was done and I need to start working my way through that and meal planning before i go shopping tomorrow. Looking at holiday destinations as Mauritius has decided to keep its border closed till 31st October we are supposed to go on 11th Nov but the restrictions they are talking about would if they open after this would not be much fun in making it a holiday i.e. staying in a quarantine hotel and not being allowed to leave there for 14 days so I am 80/20 its not going to go ahead and be cancelled
Dinner tonight no idea yet Have a great day whatever you are up to xxSlava Ukraini13 -
Good morning everyone
I'm early this morning as I'm back to work on Thursday so I'm practising getting up early! it's my birthday today - I'm 53 but I really don't feel it. It's weird to think that when I was a little girl the people I thought were 'old' were probably my age!
My twin brother's coming to mam and dads for lunch, which will be nice as I don't often see him on our birthday and I'm going for breakfast with DD and little one.
Eldest DD has spoilt me with flowers, an Amazon voucher and a parcel of chocolate, a new top and a card she drew ....and I've had a nice chat by text. I'll talk to her later as she's at work today.
I've been feeling quite down in the dumps - last week I found out that my first husband died 2 years ago. I hadn't seen him for more than 20 years, so don't really know why it's upset me so much...things ended badly, but after a few years I regretted leaving him. By then I'd had my girls, realised the man I left him for wasn't exactly a very nice person and life went on..... During the last few years I've always thought I'd contact him one day but left it too late. I think I just need to get back to work and not have so much time to think!
Anyways, enough waffling - hope everyone has a good day

Morning all
Thanks for the thread Nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
Sunny here but very nippy, the dogs have been walked, even Loulou came along, yesterday she jumped back on the boat as soon as she'd widdled.
We've been offered help moving the boat if we wait until the weekend which would be really great. I'm just waiting for Steve to wake up and decide he doesn't want to wait!
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning all.
Quick visit as I'm being given a lift into town today to go to the bank. I actually bank on line but now have to prove my identity and in the absence of driving licence, given up when I stopped driving, and passport, given up when I decided the hassle wasn't worth the holiday, it appears that I am a non-person.
Happy Birthday dp1. I hope you have a lovely day and don't waste it with regrets over past decisions. Look at your lovely family and think how empty life would be without them.
nmlc, hope your plumbing issues are resolved today.
bella enjoy your trip to the tip. How things have changed for me to be able to say that!
Right, must stop or my lift will be here before I'm dressed.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY

Good morning all, it's a lovely looking day today but cold, I could see my breath when I was taking the dog out. DGD is starting back at school today,DGS not till next week.Dp1 sounds like you have a nice day ahead so Happy Birthday to you. It was mine last week and I was 65- how did that happen
Have to say it was a rubbish one really, everyone else working & I couldn't go anywhere with my friends due to local lockdown, ( which is meant to be lifted tomorrow but cases have spiked in the last few days apparently)
Snoozer I know what you mean about your shops costing you a lot more during lockdown. We're the same so yesterday DH & I ventured to a newish a1di on the outskirts of town and spent the same amount but came out with a lot more stuff. I won't go to the one nearest us, it's an old one and never seems very clean. I stocked up on cleaning stuff and other staples and need to find a place for them.We had a bbq for tea yesterday, it was a bit cool for sitting out though,so we didnt linger too long, and DS2 took his food back inside , might be the last of the year I think.M.E. congratulations on becoming a grandparent, wishing you lots of happy times ahead!Ah well time for a good post weekend tidy, have a lovely day everyone x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'.
