Refund problem from P&O

hi there. Im looking for advice on an issue I have with getting a refund from pocruises. Last April I booked a cruise with p&o to celebrate my mother's 80th birthday. It was due to sail on 23/3/20. I paid it in monthly installments via my bank to a travel agent. Obviously covid put a major spanner in the works and I cancelled my cruise on 11/3/20 for two reasons...one my mother was 80 and the advice was for over 70s not to travel, and two...I am a staff nurse on a respiratory ward and was already working with covid positive patients at this time.

P&O offered me a future cruise credit for 100% of the value, which I accepted.  However my mother has expressed since that she is scared to travel and I have been in contact with P&O to ask about a refund. They have told me that I do not qualify for one as I cancelled my holiday before the refund policies came into place and had I cancelled 6 days later I would have been ok.

I was wondering if there is any way I can appeal this or what I would need to do in order to try for my money back?

Any advice would be gratefully accepted.  Thank you

Claire

Other than goodwill, the credit is as good as you'll get, unless your insurance covers you.

Unfortunately, as you chose to cancel so are bound by P&O s cancellation policy.
Had you waited until P&O cancelled it would have been different.
  • Unfortunately as you cancelled and accepted credit, you're not going to be able to secure a refund now.
