Searches for me took 2 weeks.  It’s the enquires where things seem to have slowed down significantly.  Still waiting for an update from my solicitor having received responses to enquires raised over 2 weeks ago now.

I sold my dad’s bungalow as POA, the chain was short as the buyer’s house was being purchased by someone who had already sold and living in rented accommodation and that took three months. Part of the delay was getting British Gas to actually turn up and service the boiler.

    Who knows ...
If it helps, my searches came back on 15th of August.
At the moment, my solicitors are waiting for answers to some enquiries they raised with the vendor's solicitors. No idea how much longer it will be until we get to exchange and completion.

Oh and there is no chain. I am buying, not depending on a sale of my current house and the property I am buying is empty, no chain there either.
Yeah there's no chain on ours either, we've had everything back and signed the contracts an selected a completion date for 2 weeks time so 😬🙌🙌
  • My offer on a house was accepted on 28th July and the searches haven't even begun yet due a complicated situation where there's now a power of attorney managing the sale. I'm FTB no chain. Thinking move in will be November or December as long as another lockdown doesn't mess it up!
