What Rights Does Someone Not On A Rental Agreement Have?

    Ye it's not going to happen. Occupation orders arent given out like sweets - despite what one poster will often post. 

    Why would she do this? If it's a new property there seems to be no reason to not be joint tenants.

    In anycase, what has been said about 'reasonable notice' is still academic. The reality is she could be out in minutes. And any reasonable notice provisions would only be civil matters to do with financial compensation, a few hundred pounds tops.
  • Depends on what sort of partner they are. If spouse or civil partner they have rights, even though not on deeds or tenancy.  But it's complicated

    I don't know why she's not on the agreement, my best guess would be that her credit history is not good enough. My gut feeling is that his isn't great either, as I've also learnt that he has paid 6 months rent in advance. I can't imagine anyone doing that voluntarily, so I'm guessing that's the reason.
