I have a British Telecommunications PLC default on my Experian Credit Report I know nothing about I had an account with them from 2016 to 2018 when I changed from BT back to Sky due to the internet keeping dropping out. When I closed my BT account there was nothing thttps://register.fca.org.uk/s/search?type=Companies&q=British+Telecommunications+plco pay which matches with my Equifax Report. I have decided to send a SARs letter to BT to get a statement of the account, a copy of the default notice and conformation the date the account was closed with the account balance.
In the mean time I have been looking into British Telecommunications PLC and found something interesting (link below)
From this it would seem that BT are NOT FCA approved what does this mean for them collecting debts.

Why don't you phone BT and ask? I've been with them for years and they have never put anything about my account onto any of the credit agency reports, should they have? But Experian explain further here on this link https://www.experian.co.uk/consumer/guides/what-affects-score.html
I'd phone them about the fact that there was nothing owing on the account and why are they putting information on your Experian credit report. In my experience, sending letters to BT is like throwing them into the sea. A phone call could clear this up in around 15 minutes. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. Thank You for the replies yes I have tried phoning them, but as the account is now closed they cannot give me any information hence SAR's letter.
