£15 introductory offer from Amazon problems

Has anyone else taken out the introductory offer to recieve £15 from Amazon for taking out their credit card?

I took one out when offered £15 when buying something on their website in september. I applied for the credit card. (took ages) and it was my understanding after a couple of phone calls that i would be credited with £15 onto my credit card after i made my first purchase. This didn't happen so i called again and they said not to worry but its actually credited on my 2nd statement. This didn't happen either.
I have now phoned them and they are denying any mention of crediting my credit card but instead are now saying that it is a £15 gift voucher. I don't want a gift voucher! i want the money! They have never sent me this gift voucher and the redemption code they gave me over the phone doesn't work.

Has anyone else been misled by this? or am i just being stupid? I remember looking into this and making sure i understood it all correctly only to find out that i'm completely wrong (or that they've changed the rules).

I don't know if they have changed the advert since you took out your card but the advert on their website says "Get a £15 Amazon Gift Certificate when you make your first purchase."

Clicking on the advert brings you to the credit card information page which says "Get £15 Amazon.co.uk credit."

Seems clear enough, but I am not saying that's the advert you saw back in Spetember.

I'm having problems with this offer as well. I applied for a card back in August having read the offer carefully (or so I thought). My understanding was that if you got the card and used it at least once within a specified time period (90 days?) then I would get £15 to spend at Amazon.

Have been into my Amazon account this week to make a purchase but no sign of the £15 and I've checked all my paperwork and there's no gift voucher code there. When I rang the credit card about it they said I needed to speak to Amazon, so I did. At first I was told that it worked on a points basis and that I needed to accumulate enough points to get the £15. I told them I read the offer carefully when I applied and that's not what the offer said at that time. The woman on the phone put me on hold for a while and then came back and said that it had been sorted and that when I get to the Amazon checkout there would be an option to use the £15 gift voucher. I wasn't online at the time but when I logged in later there was no £15, just the standard option to enter a gift voucher code!!!

  • Hi, I too applied to get the £15 gift certificate and emailed them shortly after receiving the first statement, only to be told that the voucher was issued on xx Nov and will be delivered to your email account within the next 28 days!!!!!

And I thought email was pretty much instant ;)

They said that they had emailed me the £15 discount voucher code a good 8 months before i even took out the offer... anyway, after a few emails they have coughed up with a £15 discount on my next purchase (which won't get posted till after xmas - amazon are naff!)
Anyway, as i type this i am on hold with the credit card people about to cancel it. I do not like being misled for starters and then messed around....
I shall take my business elsewhere... (anyone know whos currently doing the best introductory offer, ha ha )

I've had 3 gift voucher codes sent to me without any problems. Two were introductory offers, one was after I accumulated enough points. In all instances the codes were emailed to me.
  • I have had my Amazon Mastercard for just over a month now and received my first statement.

On my first statement it shows "1500 Loyalty Points To Be Spent This Month" yet my Total Points only shows 34. Any ideas? I have emailed Amazon but goit the usual wait a few weeks and come back to us generic response. How are these points supposed to be redeemed when making a purchase on the site? In the form of gift vouchers I assume, but how do you get a code for the Loyalty Points.

    Cheers in advance..
  • Any ideas anyone?
  • No, I had the same on my statement and I emailed them several times (Halifax that is!) and they have now passed my enquiry through to Amazon to see where the voucher is as apparently they told me it should just 'appear' on my Amazon account!! (after being told they would email it
I would close down my card but I have transferred balances already and so have incurred the fee that I will get charged by another card if I move the balance again

I signed up for this offer back in August with no problems, except that you only get the £15 voucher once you have been approved for the card. This meant I had to wait for a day or two before making my purchases, but when I did the voucher was there in the checkout ready to be used.

Even better, I discovered that the voucher is applied pre-VAT, so it is really £15 + 17.5% ;)
  • Well I have just checked all my previous orders to make sure I had't spent it without realising LOL but no its never been in my Amazon account!
