Really perculiar situation.

Hi, thanks for coming to the forum, any help would be greatful.
So I had an accident a few years ago, and it was made worse by the surgeon who didn’t know what he was doing. Long story short I’ve had 8 surgeries and as a result have lost out on a lot of earnings, and ended up falling behind with my bills.
To conquer this I could only enter a DMP otherwise there would have been bailiffs at the door! I am now about to win a case for medical negligence against my surgeon, and get all my missed earnings paid back to me. So I can pay off the owed amount in full easily. But I’ll always be left with the defaults on my account because of the DMP.
so really my question is, if I can prove to the debtors, that the reason I fell behind in payments was due to medical negligence, is there any chance that the defaults could be removed from my file?

I know it’s a horrible situation to be in for myself but any help is greatly appreciated
Kind regards,

No.
But the defaults will fall off after 6 years, so you won't always be left with them and time will improve things even while they're there.0 -
Hi,Not really a perculiar situation, people default on their debts for all kinds of reasons, the reason why you default is of not much consequence, its the act of defaulting that matters. You may be able to claim exceptional circumstances and open a complaint with each lender to that effect, you may have your complaint upheld, or they may remove it as a gesture of goodwill, but as defaults only stay on your file for 6 years, is there really any point in complaining ?It`s only a problem if you want to borrow money, so the choice is yours.Information regarding defaults here -
