Balance transfer charges

Options
Hello everyone

I have searched the internet for the answer to this but no joy.
we are moving to our first house soon and we have had to use our “spare” money to increase our deposit so this now leaves us only our wage to buy house items (all kitchen appliances).

i have had a 22 month interest free on purchases hsbc credit card which is now at £0 but I have roughly 12 months left of interest free purchasing.
if I use this to purchase house items and can not clear this within the 12 months will HSBC charge me to move the money to another credit card with 0% on balance transfers , i understanding there may be an initial charge from the new card provider for the initial transfer.

Thank you

No.  Your debt will just start accruing interest at the standard rate until you clear or transfer it

You can apply for another credit card with a promotional offer as your existing offer comes to an end - usually with another card provider. They may charge you (likely will charge you) a fee for transferring.

In the current climate you may find it more challenging to get another zero percent deal though - it’ll depend on a number of factors in relation to your credit file when you come around to apply.

But hsbc won’t charge you when you transfer the balance off onto a new card with another provider:
  • Well you only need a cooker, fridge freezer and a washing machine and you can buy all of those for around £800 in total with the cooker and fridge freezer the priorities because if it comes to it you can use a laundrette. You can live without tumble driers and dish washers, in fact we've never had one ever.
