I have ADHD and CFS - rather than nodding off, I crash out and feel horrible when I do finally wake up.

Most days I nod off in the chair once or twice. Side effect of having untreated sleep apnoea.
Now that covid hospital numbers have decreased I should be able to get a CPAP machine as they will now be available again.
  • I gave in gracefully years ago and now make a point of having a half hour nap after lunch, so around 2pm.
I go to bed 10.30, get up 7.30. After years of irregular shifts, it's such a pleasure to stick to a regular routine. I'm often ready for bed earlier but stay up to take the doggie out, then get up for the same reason.
  • Due to my Hypothyroidism I tend to nod off a lot. It's quite amusing sometimes, one minute I'm reading on my kindle, next minute I'm jolting awake because I've dropped it on myself. I've also fallen asleep holding cups, my phone, my knitting, a potato :D and one other thing that can't be explained on here 😂 I'm not too bad when watching telly if it's fast paced and actiony. But I'm about to watch the antiques road show so I'll probably be out like a light in a minute haha.

How often do you find yourself nodding off?

I’m hypothyroid as well.  I don’t doze off easily during the day but, when we get to around 9.30pm, tiredness hits me like a sledgehammer and I can’t stop yawning.  (We joke that I’m clockwork and my spring has unwound.)

Have you had your blood tested lately?  Just because your thyroxin levels have been stable for years, doesn’t mean that they will remain so.  All sorts of things can affect it, including the menopause.

Had my bloods done about 6 weeks ago. However it doesn't seem to matter what dosage of Levothyroxine they put me on I still get dozey when I relax. I can feel fine all day when I'm up and about. But sit me in a chair and I at some point I'll nod off.

I have been partial to a couple of naps a day all my life.  I Have always done it, even as a teenager I used to come home from school or work and have a little nap before tea.

No health reasons I just enjoy a little siesta most days.  Gives me a second wind and sets me up for the evening.

It doesn't spoil my sleep patterns. In fact I think having a nap stops me from getting overtired. If I get overtired then I get too wired to sleep and I find I can't relax.

Apparently we nappers are In good company.....

Some of the most productive people take regular naps.  If it's good enough for the likes of Wellington, Churchill and Thatcher it's good enough for me. 😂.

It's probably not a bad thing, but it can be annoying sometimes. I've had people think I'm a narcoleptic because of how quickly I nod off. I've had plenty of test done to make sure I'm not. I'm just glad I'm not the only one  :)

for me and others it's not a case of taking a nap though. For example, you can be sitting watching a program and next thing you know, a different program is on because you just fell asleep.
It's not controlled, it just happens, and there is nothing you can do about it.
For me, it can happen any time of the day, even in the mornings.
