Party house booking problems

Hi just looking for advice regarding a party house booking.
We booked a large holiday home for 15 people (15 different households) to celebrate a friend's birthday. The owner of the home has informed us we are not entitled to a refund of our deposit or to postpone our dates. They have said as the house can be split up into smaller units and local restrictions in Wales mean 4 households can meet inside our stay can go ahead. Even with the smaller units not all 15 of us can stay to comply with the restrictions. Additionally we did not book the house to spend time in smaller groups but all together. Has anyone dealt with anything similar?
Thanks in advance.

You could all decide to isolate for 14 days before travel, to reduce the risk of any one of you spreading the virus.
It is up to you all to decide whether you go or not. My reading of the rules are they are guidance in this respect, rather than law.

  • Yes plenty of people. Where? When?   Unless you have all taken out insurance which is probably unlikely and the owner isn't prepared to move your dates, you will have to work it out between you.   I think this where 'common sense' comes into play!   Not suggesting you flaunt the rules but... work out the logistics and possibilities.    Obviously depending on when/where you are booked in, things may change?

Did you take out group travel insurance to cover the trip?

The make up of your party is of no concern to the owner of the house.  It is open and available to be used.

I suspect one person booked the house and gave no details of every occupant anyway. If you cancel, you are at the mercy of the owner, if they find someone else to take it you can legitimately demand a partial refund but if not the usual charges will apply
