Ryanair creditcard chargeback - How long do you have to claim?

Re chargebacks does anyone know how long you can backdate an application?
We booked flights december 2019 applied for cash refund for may flights in april and finally, just this week Ryanair decided to offer us vouchers instead (of course they would!!) but we want cash returned.  Now down another rabbit hole with them, so thinking of going the credit card route but not sure if we are too late doing this.  Barclays wont tell us if we can or cant and to just fill the form out but concerned this may complicate things with Ryanair.  I f we can do it then obviously thats the route we would take. Thanks in advance to any info, John.

    120 days from the date of your flight. Barclaycard is taking 3-4 months to process them however. Ryanair has been processing refunds - just very slowly. Your best bet would be to continue pursuing them.

    Capital One took less than a week to do my chargeback against Ryanair - some banks are quicker than others !!

    Anecdotal evidence seems to suggest that at least some banks seem to be slowing up on chargebacks and pushing customers away from them.

    Of course if you paid on a credit card you have the option of a Section 75 claim, which the bank cannot just brush off.

    Starling do a temporary credit almost immediately but they say it could be up to 90 days before you hear about the retailer disputing the transaction.

    You'd think the banks would prefer customers to make a chargeback on a credit card, considering that's reclaiming the money while a S75 is the credit card provider compensating you.

    Most banks will do a chargeback first, even on credit cards. As you say that's just a transaction reversal, so they do prefer it. S75 they have to compensate the customer, and then presumably they will fight with the merchant.

    Well strangely enough the week after my Chargeback money arrived Ryanair refunded the money as well -coincidence ?
    I had to contact Capital One to get them to debit my account with the sum in question.
    How you think Ryanair are going to successfully challenge a chargeback if you have :
    1 The Original purchase receipt
    2. Confirmation of cancellation from the Airline
    3. Acknowledgement that you have replied for a refund
    And over 7 Days have elapsed since the cancellation...

    Ryanair almost certainly will claw back the chargeback if they notice they have refunded the same transaction.  That can happen up until 45 days after the bank notified them of the chargeback claim and your bank might not tell you instantly if it happens.  If Ryanair claw the money back after giving you a full refund then you won't have grounds for continuing with the next stage of a chargeback claim, unless they gave you a part refund opposed to a full refund.  The 7 days thing is a EU regulation, not part of the Mastercard/Visa chargeback policy.  Presumably if you want to try and claim damages from the late refund you need to take Ryanair to court.
