Unit rate (Day): 15.89p/kWhUnit rate (Night): 8.17p/kWhStanding charge: 21.46p/day (£78.33/year).
What does standing charge mean? Does it mean I’m on E7 tariff?0 -
The daily or standing charge applies to all tariffs. It's a contribution to the operation and maintenance of the network, costs which are still incurred even if you don't use any energy. Those prices don't look competitive, but someone has to pay for all those 2x£50 welcome bonuses, and it's YOU !Find that meter PDQ and take the readings.0

Confirming meter locations and readings should be part of the check-in process?Kyaw said:The funny thing is I cannot find the meter to read after I have moved in and I was told the landlord would do the reading. Even after I have asked for the latest reading to submit, I still have no reply yet.0 -
Not if you're trying to get the OP unwittingly to pay for some previous usage !Talldave said:

Indeed. But this is becoming regular theme on here - tenants without access to meters who have to rely on a landlord or letting agent to take readings. The tenant's legally liable for energy bills and should not be reliant on some disinterested muppet to read meters.Gerry1 said:

I've owned/rented many properties and have never not had meter access and sight of meter readings on check-in day. And the quickest way to get letting agents to fix things is to withhold the rent, it works wonders. Fortunately I've only been put in that position once.1 -
OP, until such time as you register, you are on Standard Variable tariff-the most expensive. How hard can it be to find the meter? Have you looked near the CU (fusebox)? Please don't tell us you cant find that either...No free lunch, and no free laptop

It might be in a communal cupboard external to the flat, possibly even on a different floor. But it's important to get access whenever you need it, and never rely on anyone else (except an official meter reader) to take readings on your behalf.Kyaw said:The funny thing is I cannot find the meter to read after I have moved in and I was told the landlord would do the reading.
