Perhaps the easiest thing is for the parent to be the owner and RK. Insurance in one of the twin’s names and the other as a named driver (and perhaps the parents too assuming they drive it). Could alternate the twin who runs the policy so they both build a NCB albeit slowly.

How about a car that is half as good for each of them?
But then you end up with double the cost, tax, mot, maintenance, especially if getting older cars.
  • One car but they would have their own policy’s

Double the cost, for no discernable benefit?

I am not sure you can sensibly have two insurance policies on one car.  It might be clear which policy applies in the event of an accident with a driver in the car, but which policy would apply if the car is hit whilst parked, stolen or something similar while unattended?

    RK & insured by parent.
With BOTH children as named drivers.

I can see this getting very messy very quickly.

God help if there is a ins claim....

If the twins are one of each biological sex; would it make a difference for insurance purposes?  (i.e which is Main Driver and which is Named Driver) - then simpler for Main Driver to also be RK as long as they don't fall out - go to university in far distant places etc.
If the twins are identical - how much fun could they have denying tickets "No, it's not me in that photo it's my sibling...."
I need to think of something new here...

Just in case anyone takes that joke seriously, that would be great fun until one or both twins go to prison for perverting the course of justice.   :D
A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".
