Scottish Power Rip Off

Hello,
I’m writing to ask your advice.
I’m writing to ask your advice.
My current energy deal (electricity only) with Scottish power comes to an end at the end of September. I’ve had messages when l submit meter readings saying l could stay in the same deal but had to contact them by phone to discuss it. When l did, they told me the only switch available to me, is their standard tariff, which will almost double my monthly payment.
When we moved into our current house, we were unfortunate enough to inherit a Scottish Power Comfort plus white meter. This meter type is exclusive to Scottish power and is similar to economy 7 but has 3 separate readings including storage heater readings. I’ve tried in vain to switch, but other suppliers don’t have the infrastructure to take on the account.
I’ve asked SP about changing the meter to a standard one by they say their engineers are not currently doing meter changes due to COVID.
With winter approaching, l’m worried l will be stuck with the meter and the high payments for months. It feels like we are being discriminated against and held hostage!
I have complained to them and have hit a brick wall as far a cheaper tariff goes.
Any help or advice you could offer would be much appreciated.
Thank you
Kind regards
Chris Watkins
