hi, car out of warranty. Rain water coming into pasenger side, front strut, just above my head. Any ideas before I take the dreaded visit to the mechanic.

I presume it doesn't have a sunroof or a roof-mounted aerial?
So the obvious cause is the gutter trim, door seal, or windscreen bonding. Has it ever had a windscreen?

If I were the OP, I would be checking around the door seal and window seals. It could be as simple as a chunk of dirt / debris found it's way in and pushing the seals out a little. Hopefully, it won't be a big issue to resolve, but these things are annoying especially if it is only in certain types of rain.1 -
Definitely not the door seals but very likely the window seal. Rung a couple of companies who can reseal for around £150 but all come with the warning that if the window breaks when they take it out you are looking at around £500 because of the type of window! I was wondering if there was a way to repair/deal window myself from the top corner.0

add on, we bought the car second hand just over a year ago so do not know if this is the original windscreen.0

Does Ford not have a 5 year warranty against corrosion - any sign of that at all?0

It must be only just out of warranty. If it's a bonding issue then I would expect Ford to at least contribute. There's a similar issue with Volvo XC60s and Volvo have been putting them right long out of warranty. Worth a try.0
