i am buying a house and cant find places to insure it for buildings insurance, the wording re subsidence in the survey is "we found no signs of significant structural movement. there is dostortion to brickwork over the windows to the front elevation abd some cracking to windows over the rear of the p[roperty which we believe has been caused by old settlement of the buolding but this is not consodered significant and being long standing, no remedial work is necessary"
We are due to exchange next week and Im worried i cant get insurance and its doing my head in.
Places keep asking me to fax details etc etc I dont have access to a fax machine and I just need an answer!!! arghhh!!!
Can anyone please help me??
Thanks

underwriters would normally want to look at a specialist report ( not just the basic valuation report)
Have you had one ( hope so, don't think I would buy without , if structural damage was mentioned)
Obviously you need to get a copy of requested reports in hands of the insurance underwriters- that means posting, faxing or emailing a scan.
Have you any local insurance "brokers" that you could visit and they could send it off for you .
Have you approached the current insurer ( if any)?Any posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0 -

Bit risky buying a house with signs of movement without getting a survey done. You may find the more basic homebuyers report is insufficient and it may not be too late to get a survey arranged before you exchange.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
