Make sure you turn it off at the socket when not in use.
why, what are you worried that will happen if you leave it connected to the mains and not in use?

    Indeed.

Probably like most houses, all my white goods that are not hardwired and use plugs and switched sockets are left permanently switched on at the socket.

The sockets are usually behind the unit and it would be a pain to have to pull the unit out to access the socket every time they are used.

There are isolation switches for most, but not all of them on a panel in the utility.

A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".

Do not use multi-plug adapters and extension cables.
But at only 800W, and with a short good quality extension lead, you should be OK.
Make sure you turn it off at the socket when not in use.
Yeah I read the whole thing. But I don’t know of any electrical product I own that doesn’t say plug directly into mains only. I wouldn’t fancy doing this at all with a higher consumption dryer but when I saw 800W I thought it might be ok. Thanks for advice.
They all say it to cover their !!!!!!, just like if you bother to read the washing machine manual it will say to turn off the water to the machine when not in use in case and it leaks , how many people bother to do that?
