Care leavers

Hi,
I’m a final year student and I’ve been having trouble applying for a student account. Now I didn’t need an overdraft in pervious years because I had an income while at uni but I’m not sure getting a job will be as easy this year because of the virus. I’ve checked my credit score and it’s a 689/1000 on one site and another tells me I’m stable and my credit is moving up.

I’ve applied to NatWest, hsbc and have been rejected. I also applied to Halifax because I already have a savings account with them but I got rejected to. I don’t think my credit is affecting me but I do think me not having a permanent address due to me being a care leaver in HE makes things more difficult because when my lease  is up, I have move.

I don’t know what to do, please can someone advise me ?

Are you on the electoral roll, have you credit cards which you pay off in full on receipt of the monthly invoice ? Any bad debt markers ?

Ignore the credit score - NatWest, HSBC etc don't use it.

Have you not had a bank account for your earlier studies?
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

I apply to be on the electoral roll for every address I move to but sometimes it’s the last thing on my mind ... I don’t have any credit cards but I have record of paying off my debt in time I.e phone bill or electric bill.

I did have a bank account earlier in my studies and still do just not a student one

Does your current bank have a 'student' offering? I'd have thought you'd be able to change the type fairly easily.
