hi all, 1st posting i lost my previous acc under same name
anyway, been a great reading this forum and thank you all
ive looked at my free file and its really is perfect not 1 late payment defaults etc etc credit avail 25k debit on freecard 3.5 will be paid off by xmas and all closed accounts paid and excellent
only thing i would say wouldnt go a a miss is i pay my water bill with northumbrian water in full straightaway every 6mths and its not a listing on any of the files
ive looked on nwl site and it says they do report the accounts to the cra, so shall i chase them up and ask them to start reporting it or just leave it as my file is very healthy anyway

            I wouldn't worry.
Try to get your debt down as that makes your file look a lot less than perfect. Aim to just be using a few credit cards, clearing in full each month so that lenders view you more positively.
Also remember to check all three files.1 -
cheers zx , yeah the 3.5k has been getting hit no worries there soon be crimbo and on 0% saved a bomb
can i just say to everyone that has a poor file, i now have a gleaming 1, in the late 90s early 2000s i had default after defaults and ccjs it was my own doing was about 4-5k in debt then it was a lot, slowly and surely everything started dropping off, past few years now no probs with credit always pay at least the min on payday on every bill, aim for that 0%0 -
My Northumbrian Water account does not report to any CRA and I pay on receipt of bill every 6 months (water meter).
Frankly I avoid utilities (leccy, gas, broadband, etc) that report to CRA as it messes it up if you switch often. Although you have no choice over who your water supplier are.0 -

Having loads of closed utility accounts that hang around for 6 years after you left them.D3xt3r5L4b said:

But do potential lenders care? I have loads of old utility accounts on my file and it's never stopped being accepted for any credit I've applied for.Deleted_User said:

There are companies that will take your energy use details and automatically switch you to a better deal every year, should one be available. You should definitely avoid those if you're worried about closed accounts.Deleted_User said:My Northumbrian Water account does not report to any CRA and I pay on receipt of bill every 6 months (water meter).

No lender is going to give a stuff that you change energy provider every year, especially if all are reporting you never missed a payment, what a ridiculous thing to suggest.0

I didn't say anything about who gives a stuff. I just don't want to see a crappy utility account 5 and half years after I left them, especially if I was only with them for a year.
