It isn't really a problem - people get post codes wrong. As long as the rest of the address is correct the parcel will get to you - it may just take a little longer.

Wifes friend and even her family always get our postcode wrong, we have lived here for
an eternity so always puzzled why they keep getting it wrong.

Never had any issues with the post arriving though.

    Postcodes are for routing purposes.
If the first part is wrong it causes more issues than the last. Eg for Edinburgh EH11 will go to the office that delivers all of the EH11 postcode.
So it doesn't matter if the rest is wrong. From there it really depends. If the item is going to the EH (covers a massive area Edinburgh & Lothians) postcode and has EH then at least it ends up in the right mail centre and usually will bet to where it should be going.
A common typo is mixing BH & EH. Obviously someone working in the mail centre serving Bournmouth is unlikely to have a Broad Knowledge of the EH postcode area to know thats where its meant for.
People who get addresses wrong are just as likley to be the people who dont put return addresses.
Leading to them assuming their package was 'lost'

There seems to be very few return addresses on non-corporate mail I receive. Really odd, it used to be on everything.

Amazes me how many folks dont use one.
However when something goes awry they are suddenly very interested in the returns processes and where their item goes

Same here, we buy a fair bit from various places and it seems unless the sender is using RM online labels that automatically pick up the return address, then there is nothing to identify the seller at all.

At the beginning of lock down I received a jiffy bag with a rather nice brand new T shirt in it (unfortunately the wrong size to be of any use to family members) , no invoice, no company name just my address on the front but with a name I didn't recognise at all and which I do not recognise as being any of my neighbours. It's sitting in the cupboard still in the envelope , probably in a couple of years time I'll find it again and it will end up in the charity shop box.
