HSBC randomly sent new card

Received a new debit card from Hsbc today. Totally unwarranted - anyone else receive one and know why they were sent?
I've since logged on and activated it. Exact same number barring start / expiry date & ccv code thingy on back.
Weird.

Does it look the same design wise? is it a Mastercard of Visa card?
I have not received a new card.0 -
Identical in every way. Just a normal current account.0

Could be they have been notified of a retailer that has been compromised and are sending out new cards as a protection.Life in the slow lane1

Doh! Having opened the envelope properly there was a second page which says a system error - see below.Still weird, the reason doesn't make much sense if it was just to me. ps I've never used the card. It's a donor act only so has £100 in it since opening.

I received a new one to and got the exact same 'Error' letter. Have no idea why it's just been issued like this at least it has put your mind to rest now knowing it's not fraudulent.1
