STUDENT FINANCE - CURRENT YEAR'S INCOME

Hello,
My husband and I have submitted our income from the tax year 2018/2019 to secure student finance for our daughter who is going into her final year at University, however I am no longer working so I submitted a form to Student Finance with our current year's income as well. Student Finance have written back and said that we do not qualify as our joint income has not dropped by 15%. I have asked them to explain how they arrived at this but they wrote back and said they have checked again and it is not a drop of 15%. In 2018/2019 I earned £14k and my husband earned £47k. In 2020/2021 I am earning nothing and my husband is still earning £47k. Can someone please explain to me that this is not at least a 15% decrease. Thank you in advance.

I wonder if they are comparing 2019/20 with 2020/21?I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I dread to think how many of these calculations are done wrong. You never know whether they are incompetent on purpose. You have to accept that they have a problem in that some parents don't want the other parent to know their income so they have to be careful. I would phone them up but make sure you are both there or write a letter of complaint that you both sign. You will get it sorted. Just need to be persistent.0
