Pip tribunal win

I have just won my PIP tribunal with a telephone interview with the tribunal judges. It means i have been awarded standard rate for daily living to be dated back to 17th september 2019. Any idea when i will be paid this back payment from DWP? I phoned and the guy wasnt best at explaining saying with coronavirus everything ia slow and need to wait on DWP appeals team to phone me for some reason and then they will release the payment to be paid to me. I was told previously payments are made within a week or two but its been a week and DWP on phonr havent been much help in giving me any sort of timescale. Can i not just phone them to confirm details they want to get payment made quicker? Sorry for long winded post just not sure as first time being awarded pip. Thanks, Steven

Great news. Backdated money can take between 2-8 weeks and about the same amount of time to put your award into payment.

First stage is DWP have to decide whether they wish to appeal to the upper tribunal - this does't happen often but they have that right. If they are not appealing they then put payment in place. Timescale varies but can take several weeks (I have known up to six). You will probably receive payment before you get a DWP letter because the letter is usually issued at the same time payment is authorised.
If you haven't heard anything after 4 weeks give them a ring.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.
  • Thanks for replies, had call from DWP yesterday, Saturday, confirming my details, bank account and a few questions. Said system will update over night to work out arrears owed ans be sortes by tueaday as monday a bank holiday and then get payment within 5-7 working days so good news. Thanks again
  • Congratulations.

Congratulations.   A friend won back on the 29th Feb and told 6 weeks.   She phoned up in July as nothing was happening and they had no idea why it was so long.  She got the letter a week later and paid two weeks after that.
