Historic Plevin Claim

Options
Hi.

Back in early 2019, RBS settled my Plevin complaint on a credit card.   Cheque received and banked.

Received a text from them today 29/8/20 which quotes. ‘ Dear xxxx
Re PPI ref xxxxx. We have sent you a letter detailing the outcome of our investigation into your concerns. Please allow 10 working days for receipt. ‘

I rang them to discuss to be told there was a letter on its way but they couldn’t see a copy of the letter.

Anybody else had their Plevin complaint reinvestigated after 18 odd months? It all seems a bit strange.

cheers

    Yes, they have.

    Reviews are nothing unusual.
  • Bizarre as to why are they reviewing it 18 months on, having settled it back in Jan 19.

I hope they don’t want their settlement money back!

Because failings in processes are never revealed immediately, or they would not need reviewing.
  • I’m still confused.  Does this mean they might be reassessing their financial compensation ?

They could be doing anything, phone them and ask or wait for your letter.
    helpful tips
    it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
    their - 'owned by them'
    they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)

I’ve tried to call them. The person who answered the phone didn't have access to the letter !

    Not at all Bizarre.

They could have identified a complaints handle doing things wrong in multiple cases and have undertaken a review of all cases reviewed by that individual.    Finding the issue could take months or years and reviewing all the cases could take months or years.

I’m still confused.  Does this mean they might be reassessing their financial compensation ?

    Potentially yes.

Reviews like this are not normally handled the same way as conventional complaints.   It is often a pop-up team that does it who work outside of the usual complaints team bubble.
