in Credit cards
Good Morning,
I was awarded an Amazon New Day Credit Card and some Vouchers. All my usual transaction with amazon have gone on my registered debit card. the transaction was only 30 pound.I did a transaction and did not realise it had gone onto my New Day card. The card was not activated and I had never set up my online account. i received a text to say I had missed a payment and would receive a £12 late payment charge and a mark on my credit file!!!! I hadn't received a statement or any correspondence up until this time. I went online set up my online account and paid the balance and fee in full. i want to dispute the mark on my file and close my account. Any advice or guidance please before I ring them

Apologise, make the payment there and then, set up a DD and ask if they would consider waiving the fee and not reporting to the CRAs.
If anyone awards you a card in future, make sure you actually want it before accepting the award.0 -
I'd ask if they would consider waiving any interest too.Deleted_User said:Apologise, make the payment there and then, set up a DD and ask if they would consider waiving the fee and not reporting to the CRAs.

So you didn’t read the Terms and Conditions where it says your default payment card will change to the Amazon Credit Card?sizzler said:Good Morning,

Remember to take note when purchasing anything of the card the funds are being taken from. As it clearly tells you when confirming the purchase.
But as above it is clear that taking the card makes it the default payment method.Life in the slow lane0 -
Thanks for advice.
I rang the company and they have removed mark from credit file and refunded my account charges and interest.

Maybe next time you’ll read the T’s and C’s properly?sizzler said:Thanks for advice.

A good result - but keep an eye on any new financial products you take in future as to any caveats that come as part of the ‘deal’. It’ll always be there in the terms on screen / we just rarely read them, and then things like this happen.👍0
