Have you tried resetting it (I assume blackbirds come with a manual? 😆)?
I wish they did. There's certainly no off button!

Irritated again as this is the second day in a row DS has come home from nursery with a bag of tat, crisps and sweets due to a birthday.

I don't let him have sweets, no one has ever asked if I am ok with it and he doesn't like them anyway and they get binned. It's so wasteful and of course everything comes with plastic. I am contemplating complaining/mentioning it to nursery, but only 2 months left now and everyone else seems to think it's brilliant, so I'll just be the misery. Grr.

I feel for you Jess, that would really irritate me too. It’s not modelling healthy living (a piece of cake would be better than sweets) and the plastic… when will people wake up?!

I did mention it to a parent rep and their suggestions were to take it out of his bag before he sees (impossible - he misses nothing) or ask the nursery teachers to remove it.

I don't think either are a good solution as someone is always binning it. Only 2 months to go.... Dreading what we will have to put up with when we get to school parties 😬

Ugh, neither of those are good solutions - presumably the nursery don't have any issues then with the habits this is forming? Which is poor, I think. If they did they'd put something in a newsletter surely? Maybe you need to be on the governing body at the school!  I guess all you can do is model the right sort of behaviour (that celebrates without excessive sweets or plastic) and hope that others are inspired by you. It must be really hard!

Well this was just a parent rep rather than the nursery.  Can't be many (if any) birthdays left now with only a couple of months, but definitely would say something otherwise.  I think the nursery wouldn't be impressed as they wanted to stop the practice of kids taking in cake for birthdays (gets silly with so many birthdays) and wanted people to donate them a book to the nursery instead.  Perhaps they relaxed a bit because of all the lockdowns and no one is having any parties.

Urgh.  For some reason I recorded a hoarders programme on TV and it's properly stressing me out.  So much waste and I keep wondering if everything being cleared is just going straight to landfill.  Makes me want to get rid of more of our stuff (reusing/recycling though and not binning), but to be honest, I don't think we have that much anymore and we tend to use everything.  Just need to stop stuff coming in (seems to be impossible with kids..).

I see, re parent rep. Glad to hear the nursery isn’t too keen either - love the book idea!

Hoarding programmes always stress me out - and whenever people talk about hiring a skip! 😳 I know what you mean about not having much to get rid of - it’s a nice feeling!

Been really struggling since stopping doing so much baking and my days have lapsed into little routine.  I was going to do some stuff this morning, but didn't actually have a plan and just sat down (attached to a baby of course) as I'm pretty tired.  DS woke us up (although not me as I was already awake and had just managed to get DD into the cot by some miracle and was looking forward to getting some sleep) at 5am because there was a bee in his room. It had obviously flown out already, but he refused to go back to his room and wanted to go and get breakfast.  In the end he stayed in the bed which he would never normally choose to do, but means of course that I get to share and DH has his half to himself..

Trying hard to drink enough water etc. as am at the bit of time post baby where my hormones say to my skin to just go mad.  I need to be really careful as last time I got really ill and was nearly hospitalised (yes.. simply from having some dermatitis from some hormones).  Anyway, trying not to remember that and just try to cut it off early this time.  It's easier in the summer than the winter, so will need to be doubly careful once it gets colder.  Once DD goes onto solids it will all stop, but got quite a way to go yet!

Anyway, I think with the cleaner coming back in a couple of weeks to ease the cleaning burden, I should be able to set myself up some sort of daily routine so I don't feel lost.  Also hoping that with the cooler weather, DD will wake up a bit less at night.  I feel like she is ready to drop another feed, but gets so hot she needs drink top ups more often and so I've not seen any benefit from that yet.

DD has her next set of jabs later, so as always, all bets are off for the next few days.  Definitely looking forward to after the third lot as she won't need any for absolutely ages!

Whilst in a sleep deprived state, I had a bit of a revelation at 3am and realised that my 2 year mortgage fix will actually end in Jan and not in October because the fix is for 2 years, but starts 3 months after you request it.  However, the old one "ends", but the rate doesn't go on SVR in the meantime.  Make any sense to anyone?  No?  Doesn't to me either, but whatever...  So it means my mortgage won't go down until Feb 2022 (also when I will need to start to pay nursery again, so hopefully not such a big shock!).

More to the point though, it actually means that my 10% overpayment allowance ends in October when DH is ready to overpay the whole thing for the next year.  But actually, when you fix, it resets the year and so we can overpay another 10% 1 Feb 2022.  I know this sounds weird, but I went back to check what happened last time and this is actually correct.  I am hoping DH will get a bonus and since he saves tons from working at home, it would be great if he could overpay most of it in Feb 2022 and I'll overpay about £4k and then we will finally have 50:50 of the mortgage remaining each!  I might then change the contributions as 50:50 is unlikely to really be fair since he earns much more and I am likely to take a pay cut for part time or something.  Anyway, it means I need to get my phone fund together ASAP and start saving up for the Feb 2022 overpayment.

Got someone coming to pick up our old small freezer today.  May see if I can list a bunch of new things online from the pile of things that have been sat around for months and the baby clothes DD has just grown out of.  Running behind this month on the listings, but could do with some extra cash!
