Made two sets of muffins for the freezer yesterday (chocolate chip and spiced apple).  The plan for today is to make a couple of batches of cookies for the freezer and then I'll hit the cottage pie tomorrow when I'm off work (last day today!!).

I went through the cookbooks with DS and he told me which recipes he likes/would eat.  He seemed to quite enjoy it, so I have about 5 different meals I can make and freeze now.  Will add the ingredients to next week's list so I can work through most of them next week.

Also need to finish the mega stock up shop order for next week later so that is done as well..  hopefully most of the food will be sorted by the end of next week and I will have less to do.  Cleaning is behind now as I managed to slice my fingers open on the blender blade and I am taking a few days off whilst they heal (they are a bit painful!).  Should be ok by tomorrow to get back to it.

As it's the end of the month, I did take a look at the joint finances.  Pretty awful reading as expected really...  tons of expense this month whilst I stocked up on most things we need for the next few months, plus an unbudgeted for freezer.  Now owe myself £2.5k  :#  Aim is to try and get this all back to zero by the end of July.  At least expenses for the next few months should be much lower as I've taken the expense upfront, although probably extra food expense next month due to my big stock up shop.  Will see how things go... if it looks impossible then we'll have to put more money into the joint account each month to get rid of this deficit.  If I can get anywhere near £500 off the deficit for March I will be very happy indeed with that.  Looks very tight though.

What a disastrous weekend. Just when I'm starting to get there, something else happens.

Achieved nothing this weekend and completely unable to do anything at all. Poor DS knows it isn't quite right but doesn't know what is going on. Got another letter from NHS on Sat morning. Despite saying everything would be sorted in a few weeks and they would take me through everything previously, I am getting regular letters drip feeding me information and requiring me too do certain things etc and each one is a complete surprise and unexpected. Totally stressed out by it as I need to ask questions/have concerns about some of the things they have put in there, there are contradictions between certain information and each letter seems to highlight there are other things I don't know/information it says I have been provided with but haven't (plus things like prescribing me drugs which they say is only for people at higher risk, which is totally new news to me - don't know why or what higher risk even means).

So basically it's a communication mess and I am totally confused by the whole thing. It's making a stressful situation even more stressful. I rang the number they gave me for more information and basically said they couldn't help with any questions (despite the letter saying that is what the phone number is for) and maybe phone back Monday.

Did mention to midwife too at my last appointment I was really anxious about this whole thing and she just brushed it off and said it would be fine. I thought they are meant to be extra careful with your mental health in pregnancy? Not that I've had problems in the past, but this kind of stuff will easily tip me over the edge.

Going to try and ring the hospital again today when I've mustered up the courage and try to clear up some of this mess.

So sorry to hear how stressful things are.  Are you under consultant care at all? (Apologies if you've mentioned it, I couldn't remember). I had quite a few issues in my second pregnancy and found the general midwife team not that helpful, like you've found a bit vague and dismissive, but the consultant team were really good. If you are, could you speak to them direct, and if not see if there's a more specialist, hospital midwife to speak to? Just an idea, but I find there's nothing more stressful than uncertainty and it sounds like you really need someone to give you a proper answer about things, I really hope they're more helpful when you call back again.

I'm in awe of all your freezer cooking and stocking up, it sounds fab! I'm embarrassed to admit we have a big freezer, mainly full of peas, oven chips and ice-cream  :/

Yes - I am under consultant care... all a bit last minute and no one ever explained anything to me, so the whole thing was a bit of a shock.  Only seen them once and have another appointment in a few weeks, but will be a bit late by then.

You can't contact consultants at my hospital, but I tried the number I was given again (now it is Monday and not a weekend) and they sounded sympathetic and said someone would ring me back (this is the hospital midwifes).  They did ring me back and even knew exactly who I was and said they had seen me before at one of my many hospital visits.  They were lovely and very helpful and answered all my questions.  They said if I have anymore, then just to ring them again.

So kinda all sorted, but my mental faculties are all fried after a weekend of high stress and I just don't seem to be able to do anything or face doing anything today at all.  Basically done nothing today apart from that call and finishing off my epic online stocking up order.  Hoping I'll feel better tomorrow.  I really hope they won't send me any more surprise letters.

That's great you found someone who can help and you have their number in case you need it.  Definitely don't feel guilty about having a day to rest, late pregnancy is exhausting and stress is exhausting, the two together is enough to make anyone need some downtime!
