You are doing amazing. Don't become someone who beats themselves up because you didn't get everything done on an impossibly long list. Be kind to you and the tiny human growing inside you will benefit too.

I know I'm always hard on myself.  I'm always a do it now to put my feet up later type of a person.  Panicking a bit less now... I ordered most of the baby stuff we need earlier and only a couple of things left.  Also spent some time talking to DH about DS's presents for his birthday, so feeling much more prepared now.  Plus it's the weekend, so lots more time to do things and relax :)

I think it's just the full time work plus childcare that is pushing me over the edge a bit.  Won't be forever though... just working through my maternity leave with work at the moment.  Probably the start of March, but am thinking of doing 3-4 day weeks for Feb.

It's good that you are home based in this last period. Stay safe and well. Don't over exert yourself. Things will work out. I was quite nervous of buying stuff when I had my first - and had barely bought anything - still worked out. Babies don't need as much as we think they do.

Had a terrible day yesterday, not helped by baby making me feel very sick.  Being hungry and feeling sick at the same time is always an interesting experience.  All evened out by a great day today though.

Managed to fit in my cleaning still this weekend, so the house is looking pretty good.  I had some rust on my chrome heated towel rail in the bathroom, but you can take it off with aluminium foil from the kitchen.  I can't believe it actually works... I was quite excited about that as it's been annoying me for ages lol!  Anyway, some nice wins for today:
    • Chores all done this morning, so have time to do whatever i want this afternoon (except the shopping list which I will have to tackle later)
    • I managed to put the bigger items on eBay yesterday and someone bought the biggest piece of furniture (that was in my way) and picked it up today!  The baby room (aka the room of doom) is looking miles better already.
    • As DH is useless, I looked up online and discovered that the supermarket he goes to takes textiles, so these are all bagged up ready to go tomorrow.
    • Got rid of a couple of cleaning materials which I don't want to use (I am sensitive to even eco supermarket cleaners apparently, so now ordering things from specific places online instead).  A neighbour said they would take them and so I left them outside their door.
    • Got the pile of stuff into the attic unexpectedly (DH wanted to go up there for something).
    • Made the birthday cake, lit candles and sang happy birthday for DH.  Was a bit surreal, but DS loved it.  Cake it yummy and I had extra whipped cream, so that will find it's way into my hot chocolate for the next few days :)
    • All presents happily received from DH.
Just got the shopping list to tackle later and cooking a chicken pesto fresh pasta dinner for DH (which is what he requested).  More cake later for pudding unless I unexpectedly make banana splits again like yesterday (I'd forgotten how nice they are!).

I definitely researched well last time and glad I didn't buy all the things that were suggested as they seemed like a waste.  There are a few things I do need though that DH destroyed (like moses basket mattress and all the sheets have holes in - no idea how he managed that).  But all ordered now, so should be just a cleaning fest and getting in the usual consumables plus possibly a couple of bottles just in case..

It's coming together at least then. Glad DH's birthday went well. Cake sounds yummy.

Had a terrible week really. Work is a bit out of control (would be manageable if I wasn’t doing childcare at the same time), I am interviewing people to cover my maternity leave too, I had two birthdays to sort out before end of Jan, have hospital/doctor appointments this week (and two last week) - cue anxiety for going into hospital during a pandemic and have major anxiety re: the birth and what we are going to do with DS with no family close by (absolutely terrified of giving birth on my own - that is definitely my breaking point).

Trying to pull myself together and concentrate on sorting one thing at a time. Trying to smash through a load of work stuff this week to push it off the concerned list as I think I can do that in a week. Won’t be staying up till silly o clock in the morning like one day last week as that was clearly silly.

On the plus side the house is mainly clean (kitchen only had a cursory clean, but everything else was done), all birthday presents ordered, birthday cards done/sent, all baby things ordered, managed to make bread, chocolate chip shortbread, apple crumble and tomato soup at the weekend. Also everything I put on eBay last week sold and has been picked up from outside my house (no contact needed), so the baby room is starting to look very good.  Put a few more bits on at the weekend and one sold within hours and I posted it yesterday! It’s not all fallen apart yet...

Been planning an at home party for DS for next week and just need to do the food shopping list for tomorrow. Today I am at the hospital and given the snow yesterday (and compacted ice today) and the silly hospital car park that often takes 30-60 mins to find a space, I am already here v early for my 8am appointment. Just sat in the car wasting time before I need to go in. Fingers crossed this one is a two minute job as I just need a jab.

Hopefully normal service will resume this week and I’ll be less anxious.. At least I am working part time in Feb and not at all in March, so things should ease up soon from that perspective at least. Now just to sort out the birth issues..

  • Can you have a home birth Jess? I did with my second because I was scared of the journey to hospital. It was a great decision in the end, even though we ended up going in anyway as my placenta wouldn't come out. Had a lovely, chilled (for everyone else 😂) birth in the pool we hired.

You certainly pack a lot in - as ever in awe!
One thing at a time ticked off your list seems a sensible approach.
    Hope hospital went smoothly.

It’s not really my thing and I would be more anxious given that last time my baby needed urgent and immediate attention and I was kept in for a few days. I am allowed to go to the midwife bit though which isn’t a part of the hospital technically, but actually is a floor in the hospital. Not far to go if something went wrong.

Might all be pointless if they tell me I have to have caesarean next week. Dreading that review too!
