themadvix said:Oh Jess, that’s awful. What is their problem? Totally wouldn’t blame you if you handed notice in. What does DH say? Could he go back to 5 days a week (temporarily)?I still think DH thinks I am making a bigger drama out of it, which is p*ssing me off a bit, although it might be because some of what is happening seems so unbelievable. I have a thumping headache as however much I've decided to try and not care about it, I haven't slept properly for a week which shows I'm doing a bad job of that.I do have some savings I could live off of for almost 12 months if absolutely necessary (with cut backs) and there were no other emergencies. I would rather not, but it could be done. At the moment I have written my resignation letter ready and plan to be in the office on stipulated days, but only around childcare requirements (or other stuff like parents evening etc). I think they would have a long job before they could fire me and in the meantime I will be actively looking for another job. If it all gets too much, I can just resign. I think it's more explaining the gap in employment that is keeping me there than anything right now. Now just working on not caring by thinking about my savings. As for what their problem is... I would go for power crazy control freaks..2025 decluttering: 5,307 🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅🌟🌟2025 use up challenge: 435🥉🥈🥇💎🏆Big kitchen declutter challenge 139/1502025 decluttering goals I Use up Challenge: 🥉365 🥈750 🥇1,000 💎2,000 🏆 3,000 👑 8,000 I 🥉12 🥈26 🥇52 💎 100 🏆 250 👑 5001

I think your DH is struggling with the absolute about turn in attitude & probably thinks you have misunderstood. I have to say I can't really blame him because it does seem a complete change in attitude & unless he has actually heard the conversation has got to be difficult to believe. This seems like a totally different conversation from one only a few weeks ago.

I think you’re right. Even I think it is hard to believe when I’m in the middle of it. Just another stupid example, but some of the offices don’t have enough desks and chairs for everyone to be in. They’ve been told it isn’t an excuse for everyone not to be in! There are no words…badmemory said:I think your DH is struggling with the absolute about turn in attitude & probably thinks you have misunderstood. I read a headline today saying 2/3 of CEOs expect all workers back in 5 days a week. The battle will be beginning for many of us...I saw that too.More thinking on this end and I am considering my options still, as well as if I could take a 2 year career break until DD goes to school. Just having a think about it and working through the money implications. Not going to make a decision imminently and will take my time on it (although good as a backstop if we can afford it and work gets too unbearable). I am also looking into jobs still at the same time and will see what comes up.Been very spendy today... bought a present for my dad's birthday (charity donation), a woolly hat for DS as he doesn't have one, DS's lovely school photo, booked DS into his school disco in a few weeks time, a bedside lamp for DD so we don't have to keep the main light on and some small wooden pegs so I can create a hanging place for DS's artwork in his room with some string and stick on hooks I already have.Whilst we may very soon have money constraints, I need to rein things in a bit (although we do have a holiday in a couple of weeks) and see if we can cut our expenses down. I've finally finished my 4 full time working weeks and I feel stressed, tired and miserable. Can't wait for my day off tomorrow even if I lounge around a bit so I can catch up with myself. Maybe I'll finally look into making my own yogurt.. that's been on the list forever as something I'd like to do. I might also give oat milk a go as I'd like to try and make it. Both should save a bit of cash as well if they work.2025 decluttering: 5,307 🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅🌟🌟2025 use up challenge: 435🥉🥈🥇💎🏆Big kitchen declutter challenge 139/1502025 decluttering goals I Use up Challenge: 🥉365 🥈750 🥇1,000 💎2,000 🏆 3,000 👑 8,000 I 🥉12 🥈26 🥇52 💎 100 🏆 250 👑 5001 -
I take it there’s no union presence at your company Jess? I have no idea if a union rep could help, but wonder if it might be worth investigating? Especially given your role was previously remote.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Gosh no union there! They'd be inundated with work though based on what I have heard over the years happens at the top! Back to the office starts next week so I am just lying low at the moment and calculating the options. At least I only have one week of it and then I get a week off (time off in lieu from working full time the last 4 weeks).themadvix said:I take it there’s no union presence at your company Jess? Not much happening here as I am fighting off a sore throat/cold thing so trying not to do too much and ended up just doing some food shopping yesterday. I did however make my own oat milk very successfully earlier, which is quite exciting! I don't use very much as it's just me using it in porridge every morning so not too much hassle to make my own say once a week. I refuse to throw out the pulp though, so will be trying to sub it into an oat cookie recipe later! No idea what is for dinner later, although I HAVE to try and get the freezer sorted once and for all. I think I've been saying it all year, but have to get it worked out if I want it all sorted before the end of the year! As we are on holiday in the last week of October, I won't be buying any more food for this month and will be trying to get through whatever we can. DH is out this evening and I have leftover hm pizza for DS, so I may make myself a lentil curry that I can have a naan bread with (from the freezer) and then have some leftovers for dinner or lunch tomorrow. I will be investigating the bottom drawer of the kitchen freezer later and rearranging with what is meant to be in there!2025 decluttering: 5,307 🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅🌟🌟2025 use up challenge: 435🥉🥈🥇💎🏆Big kitchen declutter challenge 139/1502025 decluttering goals I Use up Challenge: 🥉365 🥈750 🥇1,000 💎2,000 🏆 3,000 👑 8,000 I 🥉12 🥈26 🥇52 💎 100 🏆 250 👑 5000

Only thing is Jess, bought oat milk is fortified with calcium and homemade isn’t. Just something to consider nutritionally. You may decide it doesn’t matter if it’s just you putting it in porridge but thought I’d mention. I wouldn’t, for example, give it to the children as a milk substitute.Part time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018

The oat milk I buy isn’t fortified and DD has it if she has porridge with me. Otherwise to be honest, neither of them have much milk at all. If they have cereals then they’ll have dairy milk. They do guzzle all yogurt on sight though…Bluegreen143 said:Only thing is Jess, bought oat milk is fortified with calcium and homemade isn’t. Just something to consider nutritionally.
